FRIDA M TENDE

Co-Founder

Frida Tende is a Doctor in Public Health. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Buea in political Science and understands the educational environment in Cameroon. Additionally, she worked for two years as a program coordinator addressing the health needs of poor underserved women in Cameroon including HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment outreach. In 2010 she graduated with a second Bachelor’s in International Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She continued with her education in the same institution and received a dual Masters in Public Health and Public Administration in 2013.

Frida has worked and volunteered for several organizations in the United States providing HIV treatment and care services to substantially high-risk groups. Her work with the reformation and rehabilitation of Female Sex Workers and also mentoring and coaching young girls in Cameroon was a precedent towards the founding of AG. Frida believes that through mentoring and education girls will realize their intrinsic power as change-makers.

SONYA MOFOR

Co-Founder

Sonya Mofor is a co-founder of AG. Sonya, born in Cameroon has studied and worked in the United States for several years. She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA focused on strategic Leadership. She has occupied various accounting roles in various US organizations and is currently living and working as an accountant in London, UK.

Apart from being an accountant, Sonya also has a love for her community and volunteering. She is very passionate about healthcare, education and all women’s issues. Sonya has been part of several non-profit organizations during the past few years. Most notably Junior League of Dallas and now as a member of Women for Women and their community and organization based in London. Sonya also volunteered as an English teacher for immigrants learning English in the US. She strongly believes education is the bedrock of our society and that women, especially young women are the future, thus deserving of all the support they can get.

These experiences have given her the exposure, tools, and vision to lead and serve her community through AG.

PASCALINE BIH

Program Direct

Bih Pascaline is acting Program Director 1 for African Girls Cameroon. She is a journalist by training and brings her experience of working with community-based initiatives and Women’s Organizations in Cameroon particularly on issues of women and girls’ rights, leadership and voice and their sexual reproductive health. Prior to joining African Girls, she worked as Administrator for North West Association of Development Organizations (NWADO), Project Lead for the Democracy and Empowerment of Women project in Community Initiative for Sustainable Development (COMINSUD; advocating for women and girls’ rights, enhancing their capacity to lead change in their communities and to make their voices heard in Decision making processes on matters that concern them. She currently runs quarterly young women leadership forums and equips young women and adolescent girls with knowledge and skills to make informed sexual and reproductive health choices. She is a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and she works with African Girls to contribute in finding solutions to the challenges women and girls in Africa face.

KUWUNG LUZETTE

Luzette has seven years of experience in the nonprofit sector and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Buea in Cameroon. While working as an education volunteer alongside international volunteers at Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), she aided in framing a better future for Functional Literacy and education in Cameroon by designing and implementing functional literacy strategies. Her administrative duties included Overseeing and managing all accounts, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate financial principles within VSO Cameroon. She has managed community projects with a number of Organizations which has greatly improved on the lives of women and girls. Combining her post-graduate studies in Measurement and Evaluation with the administrative duties she has handled in the past, she is serving as administrator for African Girls. She is passionate about Education, girl’s empowerment, Community development and youth engagement.
