WELCOME TO AFRICAN GIRLS

Recognizing that girls face multiple challenges in pursuing an education, African Girls is employing a holistic approach to change the perception of the value of girls at the individual, community and institutional levels; foster an enabling environment for adolescent girls’ education; and engage and equip girls to make life decisions and important contributions to society. Building on stakeholders’ expertise, African Girls invests in new efforts to expand educational opportunities for girls—including in areas of personal health. The initiative leverages public-private partnerships and challenges others to commit resources to improve the lives of adolescent girls in Africa. It also expands collaborations with experts and places particular emphasis on community-led solutions to help adolescent girls complete their education.

Secondly, we also build libraries in communities.  At African Girls we believe in a world where both girls and boys are given the opportunity to fortify self-development. That is why African Girls have taken upon the initiative to empower communities by providing them with libraries. This initiative called “One Community One Library” hopes to enrich communities with the power of knowledge.

EMPOWERING GIRLS, EMPOWERING THE WORLD!

AG is a Non-Governmental Organization (501c3) providing girls facing adversity with strong and enduring professional support

What women around the world have in common is the ambition to advance their families, their communities and themselves. What they lack are opportunities, particularly access to education, healthcare, and economic development. Research has shown that girls continue to be the most excluded group in the world and because of this, they face discrimination and abuse. According to a UN 2015 report, an estimated 481 million women, 15 years and over, lack basic literacy skills, 64% of the total number of those who are illiterate.
